Solutions for the Common Faults in the Gas Nailer

Failure to shoot out nails:

  • Check the nails in use and use the recommended nails.
  • Check to see if there is any blockage and remove the blockage.
  • Check to see if the nail sending device can work properly. Clean and lubricate device.
  • Check to see if the clockwork spring is weakened or damaged. If so, replace the clockwork spring.
  • Check to see if the firing pin part (piston) has returned to its original position. If not, use a slotted screwdriver to push the needle pellet and return the firing pin part (piston) to its original position.

Failure to send nails for some of the shootings:

  • Check the nails in use and use the recommended nails (see manual).
  • Check to see whether the nail-sending device can function properly – clean and lubricate.
  • Check to see if the clockwork spring is weakened or damaged. If damaged, replace the clockwork spring.
  • Check to see if the nail sending device is abraded or damaged. If damaged, replace the nail sending device.
  • Check to see if the piston has returned to its original position. While the temperature is too low, warm the fuel cell under an environment of 50 Celsius degree.
  • Check to see if the firing pin part (piston) can operate properly. Replace the firing pin part.

Jammed nails or the nails shot out are deformed:

  • Check the nail in use and use recommended nails (see manual).
  • Check to see whether the subsidiary guide plate is abraded and replace subsidiary guide plate.
  • Check to see if the nail sending device is abraded or damaged and replace the nail-sending device.
  • Deformation of the safety switch – replace the safety switch.

The safety switch doesn’t operate well:

  • Check to see if there is any foreign matter such as gravel in the operating track of the safety switch. Remove the foreign matter.

Failure to shoot nails or unstable operation when the fan can work properly and the indicator light is green:

  •  Check to see if the firing pin part (piston) has returned to its original position. Pull the trigger for several times. Or, while the temperature is too low, warm the fuel cell in an environment whose temperature is below 50 Celsius degree.
  • Check to see if there is gas in the fuel cell.  Replace the fuel cell.
  • Check to see if the wire of the spark plug is frayed or exposed. Contact Orion for replacement.
  • Check to see if the cavity cap is inserted in the spark plug. Insert the cavity cap in the spark plug.
  • Check to see if there is any foreign material, such as lubricating grease or gravel in the spark plug. Remove the foreign material.
  • Check to see if the ventilation mesh is jammed.    Clean or contact Orion for replacement.

The fan fails to operate properly when the safety switch is pressed down:

  • The nail bin is empty. Place more than 10 nails into the nail bin.
  • Pay attention to the colour of the electrical indicator light. If the colour is red, then the battery pack needs to be charged. If the colour is green, please contact Orion for maintenance.
  • Check to see if all the joints and the battery pack are properly plugged. Plug all the joints and the battery pack properly. If the battery pack still can not be charged, please contact Orion for maintenance.
